The Rutherford Picnic Table was the first picnic table designed by Wishbone. Practical and functional, this was also the first model that incorporated the low- maintenance components found in almost all of our products today: powder-coated aluminum frame, 100% recycled plastic lumber, and stainless-steel fasteners. Developed specifically to address the challenges of working with plastic lumber such as expansion, contraction, and non-structure, the Rutherford Picnic Table is tried and true. It has, in fact become the standard in many municipalities, colleges and universities.   Over the years many different versions have been created for various applications: wheelchair accessibility, a reinforced portable model, and umbrella-compatible (see Installation Gallery).

Note that we have recently redesigned the table to have separate seat and table sections. This new design offers a lot of practical benefits while maintaining the traditional look and feel of the table. We can now offer more seating options such as having seating on just one side or two smaller seats on one side making it wheelchair accessible on that side rather than on one end. The table is easier to get in and out, reducing the potential trip hazard as there is no tubing between the seat sections and the tabletop. Separate seat sections make it easier to package reducing freight costs and potential freight damage and lastly, it is easier to sweep and clean under for those folks charged with maintaining it.
